$30

I am selling a 1905 edition of PRISON LIFE OF JEFFERSON DAVIS. Embracing Details and Incidents in His Captivity, Particulars concerning His Health and Habits, together with many Conversations on Topics of Great Public Interest by Bvt Lt Col John J. Craven, MD and published by G. W. Dillingham Company, NY. This 320 page hard bound book includes 23 chapters about the only president of the Confederate States of America who was imprisoned at Fort Monroe at the end of the Civil War. The author goes into discussing Davis opinions on many different subjects including Lincolns assassination, blacks, senators, generals, and much more. Dr. Craven was the prison doctor and spent many hours talking with this Mexican War hero and former cabinet member in the Buchanan administration. This 105 year old book shows some cover wear but the gilt writing is bright and the pages are clean and clear. The cover is loose, but still bound together.
